Just went to the dealer and bought a new cap for 14 and will try this. I decided to try a new reservoir coolant cap. Mostly likely, what we have all found is your a little low on coolant, possibly from an air pocket that was trapped in the engine and finally escaped. Myself and many others have seen this, usually after the first couple of hundred miles of being new. IF you drive it, with a couple hard runs, and sits overnight, and there is pressure and top hose is firm, yes, you may have ahead gasket problem. DammitDave said: Not sure what the I/C stands for but yes its low coolant. The pressure, and proper coolant mix, increases the boiling point of the coolant This helps fuel economy and emissions. As always make sure your Tech 2 is updated with the latest software version. Well, my low coolant level came on again this morning after a cold start and high idle running (24 degrees this morn). The reservoir cap will release anything over 15. Refer to the Service Programming System procedures in SI. Technicians are to reprogram the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. This condition may be caused by a false reading during off-road driving or in high slush conditions.ĭo This - Reprogram the HVAC control module.ĭon't Do This - Do not replace the coolant level sensor, HVAC control module or radiator surge tank.Ī revised calibration has been developed to address this condition. Some customers may comment that a " COOLANT LEVEL LOW ADD COOLANT" message is displayed in the Driver Information Center (DIC) even though the coolant level is normal. It’s unsafe to keep driving with an illuminated temperature light. Common reasons for an engine coolant over-temperature alert include coolant leaks, faulty cooling parts like fans or water pumps, and internal issues with the engine. So it is in the bottom of the bottle and needs to be replaced. Basically if the coolant is not low in the bottle but the low light comes on then the sensor is faulty. Lets run through this and let us know what happens after you replace the sensor. I am attaching the process on how to replace this sensor. With 6.6L Diesel Engine (VIN 6 - RPO LMM) If the fluid isn’t up to the seam in the tank the light will come on. The engine coolant over-temperature light warns about an overheating engine. This is due to a faulty sensor most likely. 08-08-49-002: False Triggering of Low Coolant Level Warning Message (Reprogram HVAC Control Module) - (Feb 13, 2008)įalse Triggering Of Low Coolant Level Warning Message (Reprogram HVAC Control Module)Ģ007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado 25 Heavy Duty Series OnlyĢ007-2008 GMC Sierra 25 Heavy Duty Series Only
